About Vanlene

The Vanlene was a freighter that ran aground on Austin Island during 1972 due to deep fog. The Vanlene was carrying a number of Dodge Colt cars, many of which were recovered. The wreck lies with it's crushed bow in roughly 25 feet of water. Towards the generally unbroken stern, one can encounter many different forms of life. Kingcrabs, Rockfish and often friendly seals are just some of the creatures that live around this dive site.
