The Tonawanda was built in Phillidelphia, 1863 and sold to the US Navy. She was converted into a Union Steamer and served in the navy under the name 'Arkansas' as a transport carrier and tug in the Western Gulf Blackade Squadron. In 1866 she got stranded on Grecian Shoals and eventually sank. Its a beautiful wreck dive covered in coral growth and abundant marine life. Currents can be strong due to the Gulfstream.
