About Tarpon

This submarine wreck (the 'Tarpon') caused a lot of excitement when it was originally found. The Tarpon's pressure hull is intact and lies on its keel. One can easily cover this wreck in a single dive as it is reasonably small. The conning tower now lies in the sand next to the wreck on her port side. The extreme bow point has broken off. It now lies bent at about a 90 degree angle to the rest of the wreck. Experienced divers can penetrate the pressure hull at a few points. The Tarpon is covered with green algae until the water warms up in the summer.
