About Stolt Dagali

The liner Shalom was moving at an extremely high speed when she sliced right through the slow-moving M-class tanker Stolt Dagali. When the heavy stern section of the Stolt Dagali plunged to the bottom of the sea she lost half her crew but, fortunately, the bow section was salvaged. The survivors of the Stolt were picked up by the Cape Straight. The stern section of the Stolt (142 ft long) now lies crookedly on its starboard side, at a depth of 130 feet. Although it has now deteriorated somewhat, the wreck of the Stolt is nevertheless very impressive. The smokestack, mast, and most of the upper works have all fallen away but there is a large debris field around the wreck. Visibility is generally good and the initial view of this large wreck as you descend the anchor lane is remarkable.
