About Puako Church

Puako area is interesting not only for rich wildlife, but also for very interesting lava and coral formations. Diving is excellent with huge caverns, caves, arches and lava tubes. Puako Church is also a great snorkeling spot. Beware the currents and waves along Puako's shoreline- they can be unpredictable and change rapidly. Also, winds can increase rapidly with no warning. Directions: The turn off to Puako is on Highway19 about 3.4 miles South of the junction of 270 and 19. Continue down Puako Road for 2.1 miles. After making the turn off to Puako, travel 2.1 miles until you see the Church of Ascension on your left.
