Proteus

Although the Proteus is large, it is contiguous so it is easy to navigate and can be fully explored in one dive. Once you find the remains of the engine, the shaft alley provides a trail straight back to the stern (which provides the greatest relief on the wreck). The stern rises around 30 feet odd the sand and leans slightly to the port side. The steering mechanism is completely intact and includes the rudder, the propeller, and the steering quadrant. There is also another square propeller just in front of the stern section on the starboard side. When the Proteus was first discovered many brass artifacts were found, particularly some square brass stained-glass windows. Finding artifacts is now rare but the wreck is still a fascinating dive.
