About Manuela

The wreck of the Manuela is visually magnificent. Many large pieces of the wreckage are undamaged because the Manuela lies at a substantial depth. The wreck lies on its starboard side. The Manueala is split into three large sections: the bow, the stern, and the amidships hull section. These sections are not contiguous and have small gaps between them. The debris field, a large semi-circle, lies inside the three intact sections. Navigation can be quite difficult at this wreck. The wreck is especially good on a clear day and with low current. The bow, which lies on its starboard side, is intact and is half buried in sand (although the anchor windlass and port side anchor are visible). The stern also lies on its starboard side and its rudder is half buried by sand. The third section, the hull, also lies on its starboard side. One can see the remains of the engine at the stern end of the hull. There are flat bulkheads at the bow end of the hull section which lead to the bow. The bow is at about 45 to 60 degrees to the hull.
