About Lake Tenkiller - Goat Island

This site is only accessible by boat and is the island closest to the dam! The island has a triangular shape and has everything from walls to gradual slopes. The Small Island offers diving for every level and experience! The island offers a very unique dive if you have good air consumption or dive with 100 cubic foot cylinders. You can actually make one dive around the entire island. Be sure to stay shallow to conserve air. On the West side is the easiest location to anchor your boat and a great location to discover every type of diving this site has to offer. Anchoring in 25-40' of water, you can start your dive to the south and get into the walls or start your dive to the North and you can stay on the slopes and keep your depth shallower. If you get around the wall on the South side, keep an eye out for anchors hanging in the standing timber, some divers describe the site as Christmas trees with several anchors hanging as ornaments. If you choose to pick an anchor, be careful not to exceed your bcd's buoyancy with an extra 18 pounds of weight. Most divers will mark the anchor with a float buoy and pick it up with the boat. The East side offers some of the tallest walls on the lake. Divers can easily reach depths of 100 plus feet. If your looking for a location to beach your boat, the N.E. corner of the island offers a small pee-gravel beach that allows boaters to access the island without the risk damaging your boat.
