About Dual Wrecks

The 'Dual Wrecks' is a debris field of wreckage, millstones and ballast stones and is inaccessible from shore. When the Rusland ran aground, directly on top of the smaller Adonis, she became stuck on the Adonis' cargo of millstones - were it not for this unfortunate occurrence the Rusland might have been saved. The Rusland now lies straight along the beach and the Adonis lies perpendicular to the larger ship. The steamer L'Amerique ran aground nearby and in the same storm but was removed from the beach and saved.
