About Bonne Terre Mines

This is a great site. The visibility is mostly good but is limited to the light areas and the distance of a flashlight. The history of the area and the site is fascinating and you should perhaps do some research on it before doing the dive. The primary advantage of this site is that it's appropriate for all skill levels because it's guided. Other attributes of this site include fantastic visibility, great light for photography, interesting history, and optimum safety (there are many safety divers present, as well as a safety kayak which follows the tour). There are a variety of tours so the site can be visited numerous times. If you're not keen on guided sites then don't dive this site as it is always guided. The water is also cold and the places explored can be rather dark and cramped, so if you're uncomfortable with these features then perhaps skip this dive. However, the dive is well worth it as there are many amazing sights such as drills still stuck in the wall, ore carts, unexploded dynamite sticks and more. If you're planning to return to the site for more diving it is advised that you take your dive log along.
