About Apartments And Battle Ships

Accessible by boat the area is a deep reef consisting primarily of lava formations jutting out of the sand bottom. Apartments is so named because of the abundance of fish life. Battle Ship is separated by a 150' sand channel. With some imagination the rock formations resemble the profile of a Navy ship. Currents can be very strong at times so the water conditions should be assessed before attempting the dive. The area is large and bottom depth ranges from 95' to 130' however most of the area is accessible within the 110' range. Bottom relief is dramatic with lava ridges and pinnacles rising 10'-20' off the bottom. The depth of the top of the highest formation is about 85' but is a small area. The lava is covered in bright red sponge so bring a light or you will miss the colors.
