About Loch Maddy

The Loch Maddy was a Scottish built and Registered Steamship. On February 20, 1940, She took a Torpedo hit from a German U57 which damaged her, but didnt sink her. Another vessel towed her back to port, and enroute she took another Torpedo hit. This time from a U23, commanded by Otto Kretschmer, which was a famous Ace. The Loch Maddy broke in two and soon sunk down to a shallow sandy bottom. Today she rests in Inganess Bay, well protected from heavy sea conditions. Easy wreck dive, suitable for all level divers.
