Dive Provo

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands

About

Dive Provo is the premier independent dive company on Provo, operating 3 modern dive boats. Each spacious vessel has been designed for customer convenience. Amenities include fresh water showers, marine toilets, camera rinse tanks, comfortable seating, a wide dive platform and ladders for easy entry and exit, as well as full safety equipment divers expect to find on a quality dive vessel.Dive Provo understands that divers come in all forms. They want to see everyone have a good time, be they seasoned veterans and “once or twice on vacation” divers. Seasoned divers and dive groups will appreciate the freedom offered to dive as buddy teams. Dive Provo believes that divers enjoy themselves more if they go at their own pace and not just follow behind the leader. (Divers without buddies can dive with an experienced Dive Provo instructor on each dive.) Though safety remains the top priority, divers are treated as adults with Dive Provo instructors there to lend support and guidance only as needed. Thorough dive briefings, the use of underwater markers, and warm, clear water with little in the way of current makes navigation easy. The helpful Dive Provo staff will take care of your gear as well. They’ll set it up for your dive each day and break it down and rinse it at the end of each day’s diving. Just pack your bag, leave it on the boat and it will be ready for your next dive. No lugging heavy gear back and forth to your hotel room or condo. If divers haven’t dived in a while or are a little apprehensive, a quick pool refresher can be easily arranged the day before the first dive. Quickly going over the basics and practicing dive skills in the pool will make you more relaxed and better able to appreciate the wonderful world underwater. If traveling with a non-diver, consider booking them a Resort Course to introduce them to diving in a stress-free manner. Following a quick lecture and pool session practicing basic skills, the student joins the regular dive trip and dives with their instructor to a maximum depth of 40’. Student to instructor ratios of 2:1 for adults over 15 years, 1:1 for children 10-15 years old ensures proper supervision and maximum enjoyment. The diving around Provo is all wall diving. There is no signature or “must see” dive. Mother Nature blessed these islands with diving that is all equally good. A 15-minute boat ride in Grace Bay takes you to a reef formation that begins in 25’ with spur and groove coral formations and lots of nooks and crannies for creatures to hide in. It drops off to a 100’ “mini-wall” before giving way to a wide sandy plateau, then falling off into the abyss. 50 to 60-minute boat rides take you to the more dramatic wall dive areas of North West Point, West Caicos, Sandbore Channel and French Cay, where the bottom drops steeply away from 40’ to over 6,000’. Where the boats go any given day depends on the guests who are diving, where they have already been and on the weather. Dive Provo does its best to rotate divers around as many areas as possible to give everyone a good sampling of what Provo diving has to offer. Each area has many sites, and all areas are part of a continuous barrier reef protecting the islands and marine life. Sightings of sharks, turtles, eagle rays, schooling fish are commonplace. Lucky divers regularly experience the thrill of riding home after a wonderful day of diving with dolphin playing in the boat’s wake. The diving can be awesome anywhere, it all depends on the vagaries of Mother Nature, and who is home when you visit. Every day Dive Provo’s regular dive schedule includes a 2-tank morning dive. There are also single tank dives to Grace Bay in the afternoons and 3-tank full day trips once a week. If you want something truly special, or want to mix diving with snorkeling, private charters are the way to go. The professional Dive Provo staff is dedicated to providing guests with convenient and trouble-free diving. From hotel pick-up (where available) to dropping you off at the end of the day, the team will do their utmost to make sure you have a good time. Dive Provo knows it is not just outstanding diving that makes a great vacation. It is also the attitude and friendliness of the dive team. They love diving and it shows. Dive Provo customer surveys continually rank the staff as “Number One” in reasons why they would return. They are waiting to welcome you next.
