About The SS South African Seafarer (1966)

Located 50-75m offshore, slightly to the left of Green Point Lighthouse. Wrecked during a north-westerly gale in July 1966, the 8000ton Safmarine freighter lost most of its cargo and broke up quickly. A large propeller shaft and various machine parts are scattered on the sea bed, resembling a junk yard. The only way to access the site is by boat launched from Three Anchor Bay or the V&A Waterfront. The wreck is best dived during summer when the South Easter clears the water.
