About Batsata Rock

Batsata Rock, situated on the southern end of Smitswinkel Bay, is a highly recommended dive site. The rock comes to within approximately 6m from the surface, and creates magnificent underwater scenery with dramatic pinnacles and deep gullies. The area teems with marine life and the rock is covered with lush and colourful marine growth. This is a good option for a multi-level dive and is suitable for divers with various levels of experience. There is a large and interesting flat surface at 6m and a gentle downward slope to about 30m. The area is good for spear fishing but be aware of sharks. The site is accessible by boat, approximately 5km south of Miller's Point, and clearly marked on charts.
