About U1277

The U1277 was a 67 meter long U-Boat with 4 engines and a maximum speed of 17.6 knots which was first launched in May 1944.She had five tordpedo launching tubes and anti-aircraft guns installed.Her first mission was to possition herself outside the English Channel and eventually sank in June 1945.It had been undiscovered until 1973 when some divers went to see what was catching onto fishing nets.The wreck is covered in marine growth and lies at a depth of 31 meters.It makes for a very enjoyable dive and is one of the best wrecks in the area
