About Georges Wreck

A Japanese mine sweeper which was originally a cable laying vessel 70 metres long and 2000 tons heavy. Name unknown it is known as Georges wreck after George Tyers the guy who found it. It lies offshore at Nordup north of Korere Bay near vertical reef bow at 15 meters, stern at 60 metres upright and intact. Rumors trace to scuttling, bombing and torpedoing etc. Vis is great at 30 m swim along the reef, tons of fish - all small because they don't grow full-size in this area. The bridge can be entered at 35m, stern at 56m and plenty of colored coral can be seen all over.
