About San Francisco Maru

The San Francisco Maru lies near Etten, Chuuk Lagoon in water 63 metres (207 feet), 50 metres (165 feet) to deck, 45 metres (150 feet) to top of wreck. It is a 5,831 ton passenger / cargo vessel, 116 metres (385 feet) long. The vis here is 25 metres (80 feet) Once can swim over the bridge to the tanks. Hold two has more tankers and trucks and in hold one are mines and boxes of detonators.. Stingrays have been spotted. Once a liner this twin engine ship carries coastal defence guns, oil/gasoline drums, & a hold of beer bottles. Once can penetrate the engine room but it is tricky and you have to be qualified. Also known as the 'The Million Dollar Wreck'. There are mines, torpedoes, bombs, artillery, anti-tank, & small arms munitions, aircraft engines & parts & oil/gasoline drums.
