Kankirixche

Kankirixche can be found roughly 60 kilometers south of Merida. This cenote has a ground to water level drop of up to 50 feet on a gradient break where one does not need rappelling equipment. The first person to dive here was a Marca Sarca, who in 1988 dived in open water. Professional exploration dives took place by the Tucatan Speleological Society, lead by Agustin Garcia, in 1998 This dive site has an incredibly large cave system with depths ranging from 15 to 160 feet with diameters of roughly 400 feet. A massive light shaft illuminates the large entrance. Some of the sights are the many stalactites and also the clear water This cenote also hosts many strange and rare creatures.
