About Sliema

Sliema is a popular dive site located on the north eastern coast of Malta, near the landmark Fort Sliema. The dive sites are easily accessible from the seaside promenade and offer a variety of underwater landscapes to explore, including Fortizza Reef, Coral Gardens, and Qui Si Sana. These shallow reef dives, with a maximum depth of around 15 metres, feature numerous caverns, overhangs, tunnels, arches, valleys, gullies, and interesting rock formations. The area is also suitable for underwater photography and night diving, but divers should be aware of boat traffic and always carry a DSMB.

Another shore dive site in Sliema is Exiles, located about a kilometre northwest. The Sliema coast offers various facilities such as parking areas, public toilets, dive centres, beach clubs in summer, cafes, restaurants, hotels, and shops. However, parking near the shoreline can be challenging during the summer months, especially on weekends, due to the crowds. In addition to diving, the Sliema coast is a great place for swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing, and shopping. The dive sites are recommended for beginners due to their shallow depth and calm conditions.
