The site features an underwater tunnel that connects the hole to the open sea, with the entrance just a few metres away from the dive's entry point. The tunnel is about 10m in length and the average depth in the tunnel is about 5m, with the bottom of Mini Blue Hole at 3m. The surrounding seabed is covered with rocks and boulders, with many small gullies and reefs that provide a habitat for octopus and moray. Access to Mini Blue Hole is via an off-road track along the coastline connecting Marsaskala to Xghajra, with informal on-street parking located about 700m from the start of the track. From the parking area, a rough walking path leads over uneven and sharp rocks down to the shore. The entry/exit point to the dive site is located more than 70m away from the parking, with access to the sea over some gently sloping rocks and a shallow reef. The site is also suitable for swimming, snorkelling and free diving.
