About Marsaskala (Marsascala, M'skala, M'scala)

Marsaskala, a seaside village on the south east coast of Malta, is home to a variety of dive sites located around the Zonqor Point peninsula. This area includes the wrecks of tugboats St. Michael and Tug 10, scuttled on 16th May 1998 to create an artificial reef for scuba diving. Other sites include various reefs and the Mini Blue Hole on the north side of the point. Marsaskala is protected from the prevailing north-westerly winds, making it a calm diving location even when other areas on the north and west coasts of Malta are not divable due to bad weather conditions.

Zonqor Point is also a suitable location for training or second dives, although visibility in Marsaskala Bay may not be as good as other parts of the Maltese islands. The area is equipped with parking, public toilets, a dive centre, kiosks, cafes, and restaurants (some open only in summertime). There is also a large outdoor swimming pool (formerly the National Swimming Pool Complex). The maximum depth of the dive sites is 20 meters, and they are suitable for beginners. The dive site types include caves, reefs, and wrecks.
