About HMS Stubborn

HMS Stubborn (P238) is a submarine wreck located approximately 3 km north-east of Qawra Point in Malta. The wreck, which lies on a sandy bottom, is fairly upright and intact, tilted towards the starboard side. The maximum depth of the site is 56 m, with the top part around 50 m deep, making it suitable only for technical or very experienced divers. The HMS Stubborn was a S-class British submarine, measuring 66 m in length and 7 m in width. It was intentionally scuttled by the Royal Navy on 30th April 1946 to serve as a submarine sonar training target.

The dive site offers light current and an approximate maximum visibility of 45 m. Divers can expect to encounter various marine life. It is recommended for advanced divers due to the depth and the technical nature of the dive. Other submarine wreck dives in Malta include HMS Olympus and HMS Urge, both resting at a depth of 130 m after hitting a mine during World War II in 1942. The dive site type is classified as a wreck.
