About Fireworks Barge

The Fireworks Barge is a unique wreck dive located in St Julian’s Bay, nestled between Exiles and Spinola. This 30-meter barge was once used as a platform for launching fireworks, but sank overnight between the 7th and 8th of September 2009 due to damage from a series of fireworks explosions. The wreck now rests upside down on a sandy bottom, at a maximum depth of 10 meters, towards the middle of the bay opposite the Cavallieri Hotel. The site is characterized by mooring stones and a plethora of bricks, but is relatively devoid of marine life.

Despite its relative obscurity, the Fireworks Barge offers an interesting dive experience, especially for beginners due to its shallow depth and lack of strong currents. The site is primarily a wreck dive, with the capsized barge providing the main point of interest. However, the lack of abundant marine life and limited visibility may not appeal to all divers. The site is easily accessible from the nearby location of 'Exiles'.
