About Benghisa Reef

Benghisa Reef is a boat dive site located approximately 1 km off Benghisa Point in Birzebbuga, on the south coast of Malta. The reef stretches for 1.5 km in a southeasterly direction, starting from a depth of 10 m and featuring drop-offs up to 50 m. Due to its proximity to the entrance of Marsaxlokk Bay and the busy Malta Freeport harbour, divers are advised to be cautious of boat traffic and carry a DSMB. The site is also known for occasionally strong currents that can arise quickly.

This dive site is recommended for advanced divers due to its depth and potential for strong currents. The marine life at Benghisa Reef is not specified, offering a sense of mystery and exploration for divers. As a reef dive, it provides an opportunity to observe the unique underwater ecosystem and its inhabitants. The maximum depth of the site is 50 m, but visibility can vary.
