About Benghisa Point

Benghisa Point is a dive site located near Malta Freeport in Birzebbuga, on the south coast of Malta. The dive begins in a narrow, shallow inlet with a depth of around 4 meters, featuring a flat, rocky bottom with gravel that gradually deepens. The seabed outside the inlet is covered with meadows of Posidonia seagrass and interesting rock formations, including an arch on the right side of the inlet. The maximum depth of the dive is 20 meters, found in a southwesterly direction from the inlet. However, visibility can be quite poor inside the bay, and there are occasionally strong surface currents in the area.

Entry into the water is done either by a giant stride from a high concrete platform or sliding down from rocks, and exit is by climbing up rocks. Divers should be aware of passing fishing and pleasure boats once out of the inlet and carry a DSMB. Approximately 1 km off from Benghisa Point is Benghisa Reef, a boat dive site. Additionally, there are two historical airplane wrecks nearby: the B-24 Liberator Bomber and the Douglas A-1 Skyraider. Due to the potential challenges of this site, it is recommended for advanced divers.
