About Maeda Point

Maeda Point is an amazing dive site with beautiful scenery, a huge amount of marine life and easily accessible areas. It is advised to suit up in the parking area before going down to stairs to Maeda Point's access point. This dive site has many crevices and small canyons in its reef as well as several walls that go down to about 80 feet deep. If one takes a short swim to the open sea, you will come across a cave with amazing lighting and lots of fish. Be careful of sea snakes, stonefish, cone shell snails and jellyfish during the late months of the year. Directions are as follows: Get on Highway 58 driving northward. After driving past Kadena Air, carry on for about 15 kilometers until you see the overhead sign pointing you to Cape Zanpa. After turning onto that road you will travel for about 15 minutes depending on traffic. When you get to the second split in the road turn to the right. (This turn can be found roughly 1 kilometer outside of Zanpa itself) Another ten-minute trip and you will see the sign to Maeda Point overhead. Carry on down the road until you get to the parking gate. It will cost about 100 Yen per hour parked here.
