About Mizen Head

There is an area off the small headland where one can dive the remains of an 18th century ship, although a permit is required to dive this area.Otherwise at Mizen Head near the lighthouse there is an area where various ships have sank (Ribble,Manoes and Taurima),this area should only be dived when the water is calm.North of Mizen is a 'graveyard' of ships which have sank there over the centuries; Bohemian (1887),Irada (1908),Memphis (1896) and more, while these ships have mostly been destroyed remains of their wreckage are still present.Off the tip of Mizen there is also a reef which is home to lots of marine life and makes for a good dive.
