About Shark Point

Shark Point, a site east of Gili Trawangan, and consisting of three different levels (18m, 20m, 24m), is a popular dive site in the morning. The slope begins with both hard and soft corals, natural habitat of green and hawksbill turtles. Each of the different levels comprise of sandy areas and small coral blocks, and this allows for a large variety of marine life, including schools of trevally, napoleon fish, white tip reef sharks and rays, in the sandier areas, with ribbon eels, leaf fishes and mantas. 500m east of Shark point, at a depth of 30m, "Volkers' Golf Course", so named for the resemblance to the green of a golf course, is a good site for sharks, schools of mackerel and doctor fish. This site is best for advanced divers, due to the depth and very strong currents.
