About SS Leopoldville Wreck

This dive site is located about 1 hour from Cap de la Hague by boat and is done by a few local dive shops as well.This is by far one of the best wrecks in the area and is recommended if you are interested in wreck dives. The story of the wreck is as follows,She was built in 1928 in New Jersey 24 December 1944 this vessel was transporting 2000 American troops to the Battle of the Bulge.When she was just 7 kilometers from Cherbourg she was hit by a torpedo which was fired from U-486.During the process of sinking 800 men lost their lives in this event
