About Peresvyet Wreck

Also known as The Peresviet, Sagami or Peresvet, this vessel was the first of three 13,500 GRT pre-dreadnaught ships. This vessel served in the Russian navy and years after service was renamed to Sagami and became the Russian arctic fleets Flagship. She sank on 04 January 1917 shortly after steering into the Suez Canal when she hit a underwater mine laid by a German Type UC-II Mine Laying Boat UC-73 under the control of Commander Kurt Schapler. She now rests in waters no deeper than 25 meters making her accessible by intermediate and advanced level divers. Great exploring and photo opportunity.
