About Sandys Plateau

This site can be found one and a halve kilometre east of the Sea Aquarium. This is a great spot for all level of divers and snorkelers. The parking bay here is secure and you will be charged a small fee. The parking lot is not too far from the water. Facilities include restaurant, showers, beach chairs, shade, Cat Sailing sail school, and a full service dive shop. There is only a narrow strip of sand thus attracting less sunbathers. It has a wide reef logoon. Enter at the sandy beach and swim through the bay along the breakwater. A sailboat was sunk there in 2003. It is about 60 meter from shore and is marked by a small buoy. You will find it close to the wooden float in about 10 meter of water and its deck at 5 meter. Head slightly to the right of Jan Thiel Bay, past the breakwaters. Here a long shallow shelf takes you to the drop-off. The shelf is between 4 and 6 meter, a good place for novice divers. The swim to the drop off will take you ten minutes. It start at 6 meter and drops to below 30 meter. It has been suggested that the best diving is between 13 and 20 meter. Usually you will find some surface hop and moderate currents there. Remember to keep a lookout for boat traffic.
