About The Arabia

This site is at the wreck of a three-masted Barque, lying upright, which was built in 1853. The stern section has collapsed but from midships to the bow the condition of the ship improves, with the bow having its windlass and both anchors still in place. There are many deadeyes on the rails and the bowsprit is mostly intact with its chain rigging still in place. The visibility varies but when it is good there is a fantastic photo opportunity facing forward below the bowsprit although one should be careful of the slight current and depth while taking photographs. There are two buoys marking this site. One of the buoys (which marks a point about midships) leads to a concrete anchor with a line which leads to the rail. The other buoy, at the back of the ship, leads to a concrete anchor with a line which leads to the fallen mast of the wreck. One should expect temperatures below 46F and a thermocline or two as this is always a cold dive, even in summer.
