About Caulfeild Cove

Caulfeild Cove boasts a manmade marine sanctuary, utilizing an 800-metre long breakwater made out of concrete and granite blocks. Line fishing is allowed but be aware of discarded fishing gear and overenthusiastic boaters There are 5 dive flags that have been painted near the top part of the western side of the breakwater, with related bronze signs giving a description of the wildlife. Beach/Flag 1: Varied cobble and sand bottom, swallowing gradually to 8 metres. Flag 1: 8 metres depth, sandy bottom. Flag 2: 8 - 17 metres depth, sandy bottom. Flag 3: 17 - 20 metres depth, sandy bottom. Flag 4: 22 - 25 metres depth, sandy bottom, debris below 9 metres. Flag 5: 28 - 35 metres depth, mud, and sand bottom, tumbled granite blocks. This dive site has varied marine life, consisting of Sleep Canary, Black, Yellowtail, Tiger, Quillback Rockfish, Tiger, Harbour Seals, Rat Fish, Dogfish and Octopuses.
