About Wayaka

This site is located within the confines of Washington-Slagbaai National Park. This is a new site where very little diving has been done in the past. This is a small sandy beach and flamingos maybe present in the saliña. The beach area is made up of small dead coral form a small slope down into the water. The bottom is hard and smooth. Step carefully, there are rocks from ankle-deep water to knee-deep water. A large brain coral is the only obstruction to watch for as you move to deeper water. To the right there is a wall of coral rubble perpendicular to shore that extends almost to the surface. To the drop off you will swim over sandy areas and coral rubble mounds. There is a deep sand channel that separates the reef into two steep slopes. The slope begins at 7 meter and drops steeply down to a sandy bottom at 35 meter. Hard coral rocks cover the steep slope. The coral is very healthy corals below 15 meter. Black coral bushes appear dramatically out from the steep slope. Soft corals and sponges appear occasionally but not abundantly .
