About Leonora's Reef

This site is just east of Carl's Hill. This is an ideal site for the beginning diver and snorkeler on the shelf. You can only access this site by boat. There is a typical sloping reef with coral formations of huge sizes. These coral heads that are hollow are the ancient ones because coral age from the inside. Some of these corals are estimated to be over 75 years old. There is a small tunnel through the coral. There is a big purple '�linguini'� sponge at about 21m. Gorgonians are abundant in deeper water, where the slope descends sharply to sand at 36 meter.
