About La Dianas Leap

It is recommended that you do this as a guided shore dive. It is known for the practice of "leaping" off the shore and then doing a drift dive to Karpata. This site has been recommended for intermediate divers and is accessible by boat only. La Dania's is one of Bonaire's few vertical walls, with numerous canyons and sand shoots. During the pioneering days of Bonaire-diving, Captain Don led groups of shore dives around the island. This site is definitely one of the more challenging on Bonaire due to its blind leap into the water. On one memorable day, only Diana (the sole female in the group of divers), was brave enough to leap off the coral cliff and complete the drift dive with Captain Don. Thus, the name of the site! The only exit point is at Karpata. When you see a very large anchor at about 10 m depth, you are at Karpata and head for shore. Directions: On the stretch of road between Columbia and Karpata, 7 km North of Kralendijk.

  • Rapid Surge Direction Changes — Surge near reef structures can reverse direction quickly, pushing divers sideways into unexpected areas.

  • Unstable Visual Ascents — Relying on wall visuals can destabilise ascents.
