About Folkestone Marine Park

A unique diving experience which is a must if you're in Barbados. The Folkestone Marine Park incorporates an artificial reef as well as a museum with aquarium. This is rare but lovely combination, allowing for a days activity, even with the whole family. The kids and the husband/wife can enjoy the museum and a picnic while you are diving. There are also tennis courts and a basketball court! It has everything for a perfect relaxing day out. As for the diving, the artificial reef mentioned above was created by the intentional sinking of the Stravronikita, she now lies at a depth of about 35 meters. The depth means this wreck is only suitable for experienced scuba divers, but the marine park allows for scuba divers to hire a boat to some of the dive sites in the area which aren't immediately near to the shore. For those without their AOW licenses, don't fret. There is also a reef which is located close to the shore which can be snorkelled, located only a few hundred meters from shore. Corals, sponges and anemones can all be found here.
