About The Barge

The Barge is a fascinating dive site located off the coast of Andros Island. This site is the final resting place of a World War II barge that was intentionally sunk in 1963 to create an artificial reef. Today, the barge is covered in a stunning array of marine growth, including various types of coral. A unique feature of this site is a wall-like structure, also heavily encrusted in marine life. The maximum depth here is 21 meters, with an approximate maximum visibility of 30 meters.

This site is suitable for beginner divers due to its relatively shallow depth and clear visibility. The marine life at The Barge is diverse and includes eels, grouper, and crabs among others. The site's characteristics are defined by the wreck of the barge, now a thriving artificial reef.
