About Hurricane

This wreck was an iron ship that was built in Scotland in 1853. It was used to transport passengers and cargo between Liverpool and Melbourne. It took on water after scraping a rock and sank on 21 April 1869. There is a large amount of the wreck scattered here to explore. It is now an artificial reef and has an abundance in variety of marine life. The bottom is made up of shells, silt and sand. This is an exciting and interesting dive that is recommended for any dive levels, although removing of wreck artefacts is prohibited as this wreck is seen as a Historic Shipwreck.
