About Cod Hole

This site is at Julian Rocks, ten minutes by boat from Cape Byron. On the eastern end of the island the drift takes place from Cod Hole to the south. It drops to 10m here and then further as the island grades with wonderful walls to about 22m. The current is comfortable and not hard to swim against and the marine life gets more exciting as the dive progresses. The viz doesn't hit to much lower than seven metres at time though so a lot of the good stuff is obscured but it still keeps offering more and more. The dive starts tilting up again to about 14m where you can take in some of the reef life. Conducting the drift from the other end on a separate occasion from Turtle Hole heading south you will experience a bit of a stronger current but its a great way to take in what you couldn't the first time around.
