About Breakwater wall

Warrnambool breakwater wall is a beautiful and easy dive with an abundance of fish life including lots of soft kelp and the occassional weedy sea dragons and sea horses. You enter via the old boat ramp next to the wall or the small beach area next to the new boat ramp. You must keep close to the wall due to boating traffic. As you enter from the old boat ramp there is a drop of about 3 feet so a seated entry is best and just roll off the end of the ramp pushing away from the ramp gently. Commence the dive by meandering through the pylons of the wharf where you will see sea dragons, puffer fish, abalone and vast amounts of kelp and fish. Continue along the wall abd you will see some spectacular fish life. Look into the cracks for the odd crayfish or two and abaolne are stuck nicely in the crevices. At the far end of the wall, there is a little bit of surge but the wal protects you pretty well. This is a relaxing dive and would make a great night dive or beginners dive,
